Amherst County Public Schools would eliminate some positions regardless of what version of three proposed state budgets are adopted, the superintendent told the school board Thursday night, in proposals that would eliminate significantly fewer positions than what has been proposed in other counties.

Anthony Rose to join two brothers at JMU

Lancer standout football player Anthony Rose will be joining his two brothers, Peter and Jon, at James Madison University in Harrisonburg. Rose, joined by his parents, John and Mary Rose, signed a letter of intent on March 4 to play for the Dukes. Also at Rose’s side was head coach Cecil Phillps.


Crusaders end season in final four of tourney and with 14-3 record

The Temple Christian School girls varsity team won its last game of the season to finish third in Virginia Association of Christian Athletics state play with a 14-3 record. The Crusaders topped Grace Christian 39-36 in the state consolation game.
