Stacy Lamont Childress, 29, Gladys, changed his plea of "not guilty" to abduction and malicious wounding charges to "guilty" when his trial was continued in Campbell County on February 26. The judge has ordered a pre-sentencing report and Childress will be sentenced on March 31, 1:15 p.m.

The five-year capital improvement draft plan Campbell County Director of Management Services Alan Lane presented to the Board of Supervisors at last Monday evening's meeting reflects the elimination of all non-essential capital projects and the delay of remaining essential capital projects.

The W.C.H.S. Forensics team competed in the District Tournament at Altavista High School this past Saturday, February 27th. The team did an outstanding job, not to mention that many of the members on the team are considered novices, which means these students were competing for the first time. Lynchburg native Phil Vassar is returning to his hometown on Thursday, March 11, to play a second annual benefit concert for The Miller Home For Girls at the E.C. SOUTH BOSTON, VA. - On Saturday, the familiar roar of race engines will be heard at South Boston Speedway.

The 2010 campaign will get cranked up at America's Hometown Track on Saturday, March 13, with a special afternoon starting time. The season-opener will feature twin races for the Late Model Stock Car Division, as well as action for the Limited Sportsman Division, Pure Stock Division and Southern Vintage Modifieds.

The 2010 WCHS girls' tennis team started its season last week but only had one good day to practice on the courts due to wind and cold.
