Charlie Wilson Staff Writer LAWRENCEVILLE - Joseph L. McCoy, 41, surprised the court on Thursday, Dec. 18 when he requested a jury trial rather than a trial by a judge. McCoy is charged with statutory burglary, grand larceny and possession of burglary tools and is one of three individuals charged with stealing cigarettes and lottery tickets from Jenkins Mini-Mart in Warfield on Feb. 14 of this year.
Lawrenceville Correctional Center honors graduates

Editor LAWRENCEVILLE - Graduation Day is a special day for the graduates and their families and friends. The New Hope Therapeutic Community at Lawrenceville Correctional Center held a graduation ceremony recently to honor the 44 men who successfully completed the program and promised to abstain from the use of alcohol and drugs.
Silver Trail, Urgent Needs Project funded

Editor LAWRENCEVILLE - Brunswick County was awarded a 2008 Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $700,000 from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development for the Brunswick County Housing Production Project Silver Trail in the Sturgeon District. The Brunswick County Board of Supervisors accepted that amount and appropriated those funds for the Brunswick County Housing Production Project, Solver Trail for FY08-09 to the Capital Project Fund.
