At a time in the season when the Halifax County High School varsity boys basketball team should be playing its best basketball, it’s playing its worst.

The Halifax County Middle School basketball team lost for the second time this season to Bonner Middle School of Danville, this time at home Monday by a 50-27 score.

An early deficit proved too much to overcome, and the Halifax County Middle School girl’s basketball team ultimately lost 28-25 Monday at home to Bonner Middle School of Danville.

Professional wrestling star Ricky Morton has been a part of some of the nation’s top wrestling events in his career. He says Saturday night’s “Halifax County Brawl” Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling event at Halifax County High School is a must-see event for area wrestling fans.

Halifax County High School and Football University are teaming up to host a special free football tackling clinic for players and coaches Saturday, February 11 at Halifax County High School.

Kickstarter, The Prizery’s Summer Theatre fundraiser, has raised $22,805 as of Tuesday morning with only $2,195 left to meet the Feb. 11 goal of $25,000.

Old Dominion Resource Conservation & Development Council, Virginia Cooperative Extension and Prince Edward County co-hosted an informational meeting on establishing a Buy Fresh, Buy Local Chapter to serve the Central and Southside Virginia region on Jan. 19.

A large number of Southside youth currently cannot afford basic dental and health care, but a $2.5 million expansion of the Halifax Primary Care facility in Houghton Industrial Park may be just the right tonic they need for a brighter future.
