Workers this afternoon stopped a natural gas leak that began when a backhoe struck an inch-and-a-half line at 10th and East Cary streets downtown, Richmond fire officials said.

Man critically wounded in South Richmond shooting

A man was seriously wounded in a shooting in South Richmond on Tuesday, and police were searching today for two suspects. Richmond police Capt. Michael Zohab said the man, found with a single gunshot wound, was taken to VCU Medical Center, where he was in critical but stable condition this morning.
