The fire was discovered about 11:20 a.m. at a brick Colonial in the 4400 block of West Franklin Street. Authorities said the victim, a man in his early 30s, was taken to VCU Medical Center with what were believed to be smoke-related injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.
