Less than half an inch of snow hits Hampton Roads

Winter briefly graced the region with its presence Saturday evening.
Less than half an inch of snow fell over Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Snow showers will end early this morning and skies will clear.
Despite the afternoon sun, blustery and cold conditions will prevail.
Winds will gust to 40 mph at times, and afternoon temperatures will be in the upper 30s.
Wind chills will be in the teens and twenties.
Sunny skies are forecast for Monday and temperatures will be in the upper 40s.

A storm system rolling through the Ohio Valley is working toward Hampton Roads.
Ahead of a cold front, showers have developed and we can expect to see rain continuing at times overnight, before ending early Saturday as lows reach the lower 40s.
Saturday morning skies should be mostly to variably cloudy, but additional showers are possible with a passing cold front later in the day.
