Fraud suspect’s bond hearing postponed again

NORFOLK
A bond hearing in federal court for George Hranowskyj, charged in an alleged historic-tax-credit fraud of the old James Madison hotel downtown and linked to the collapse of the Bank of the Commonwealth, was postponed again.
Jon Babineau, a defense attorney appointed last week to represent Hranowskyj, notified the court that he had learned of a conflict of interest.

SUFFOLK
Police are seeking two men they say stole wiring valued at $6,000 from a home.
On April 24, two black men entered a home under construction in the 4300 block of Deer Forest Road, according to a city news release. The men then cut wiring and removed it from the home.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Lee H. Person Jr., a well-known research pilot at NASA Langley, has died. He was 79 years old. A resident of Yorktown, Person was inducted into the Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame in 2011 in recognition of his contributions to aviation safety and aeronautics research.
