Congressional opponents of the war in Afghanistan forced a debate Wednesday on the floor of the House of Representatives on a resolution to bring U.S. forces home and end the eight-year-old war.

Gov. Bob McDonnell pushed to quell the controversy surrounding sexual orientation discrimination at state-supported colleges and universities Wednesday, releasing an executive directive saying that "discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated."
