We are living in tough economic times, and serious cuts in spending by governments and sacrifices by individuals will be necessary. We may not like it, but we can live with potholed roads, leaf-strewn streets, even crowded libraries or higher fees for recreation. What we cannot do is cut the quality of our children’s education.
