The Richmond City Council chose Monday to press ahead with the plan for a baseball stadium in Shockoe Bottom, but the 6-3 vote leaves little room for error as Mayor Dwight C. Jones sets out to finalize the project’s details.
Monday’s vote, which occurred around 11 p.m. after a marathon session, was not the final decision, but it was the first major test for the development plan unveiled by the mayor late last year.

NEWPORT NEWS A woman shot by police Monday has been charged in connection with the incident. Laura Kathryn Brown, 29, of the 200 block of Eaton St., has been arrested and charged with three counts of brandishing a firearm, a police news release said. She is in city jail.
