Shockoe baseball stadium plan wins initial backing 6-3
The Richmond City Council chose Monday to press ahead with the plan for a baseball stadium in Shockoe Bottom, but the 6-3 vote leaves little room for error as Mayor Dwight C. Jones sets out to finalize the project’s details.
Monday’s vote, which occurred around 11 p.m. after a marathon session, was not the final decision, but it was the first major test for the development plan unveiled by the mayor late last year.

NORFOLK No explosives were found Saturday night after The Gallery at Military Circle was evacuated because of a bomb threat, a police spokeswoman said.
