Blacksburg attorney Joseph Painter declared not guilty
CHRISTIANSBURG — A Blacksburg attorney accused of gun and drug charges was found not guilty by reason of insanity on Monday, almost 10 months after he was arrested with a former female client outside a motel.
Joseph G. Painter Jr., 66, is now scheduled to soon be transferred to a mental health hospital, where he will remain in custody until doctors determine he’s ready to be reintegrated with the community.
