I-M Staff Writer The work for the 2010 census count started a month ago, in Greensville County and Emporia. On Thursday, Patricia Knight, Partnership Specialist for the Regional Census Center, met with Emporia Assistant City Manager, Scott Hall, to discuss ideas to help make the census count run smoothly in Emporia. Currently, census workers are in the early location stage, canvassing addresses, to get a jump-start on the count that begins next April. Area workers are identifiable sporting a census badge, carrying a hand held GPS system and black travel bag. The address canvassing is expected to last another three or four months.
