A Stafford County deputy happened to be in the right place at the right time to apprehend a suspect in a theft, police said.
Sheriff's Office spokesman Bill Kennedy said Deputy Larry Sturdivant was on Warrenton Road heading to an unrelated call Saturday when he received notice to be on the lookout for someone who had just taken money from the Handy Mart at 1186 Warrenton Road....

Spotsylvania Superintendent Shelley K. Redinger is not considering outsourcing the school division's cafeteria staff, despite the need to make big cuts in next year's budget, spokeswoman Rene Daniels said Monday.
Redinger did not recommend that in her fiscal 2013 budget proposal and did not make that recommendation on Friday when she provided an overview of her plan to streamline the division for the 2012-13 school year....

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office is looking for two suspects in the robbery of a pizza delivery driver lured to an apartment complex with a phony order.
The incident occurred about 12:45 a.m. Saturday at the Brittany Commons apartment complex off Courthouse Road, Sheriff's Capt. Mike Harvey said. A driver for Papa Johns said he was delivering a pizza to an apartment when he was approached by two black males, one of whom was displaying a knife....

The George Washington Toll Road Authority welcomed three new members at Monday night's meeting. Those newcomers--three new representatives from the Spotsylvania Board of Supervisors--were the ones who all but killed the group's one project: the Interstate 95 interchange.
During the meeting, the new members explained their stances, saying they simply want to find the best solution for the area's congested roads....
