Germanna fetes Fred Rankin as its Distinguished Person of the Year

Fred M. Rankin III, president and chief executive officer of Mary Washington Health Care, was honored as the Germanna Community College Educational Foundation's 2012 Distinguished Person of the Year on Friday night at the Fredericksburg Country Club before a crowd of about 200.
Past recipients of the award include Dr. Jane Ingalls, state Sen. John Chichester and Ed Allison, according to a college press release....

Almost 80 residents in King George County have reported damage from the Aug. 23 earthquake, ranging from drywall cracks to damaged foundations, said Lt. Steve Lynd of King George's Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services.
Some homes in Dahlgren "had as much damage as homes in Louisa," Lynd told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday night. "It was amazing to see damage, that far from the epicenter, that was as bad as ground zero."...
