McAuliffe discovers taking presents can be tricky

The Hook in review: 12 years of covering Charlottesville

Education leaders note objections to funding

Time, regulation on uranium sought
A day after Southern Virginia business leaders, medical professionals and legislators took their case against uranium mining to Richmond, Governor Bob McDonnell issued a press release calling on the General Assembly to “take no action to permit uranium mining during its 2012 session,” and the creation of a multi-agency workgroup to a site specific study and create preliminary regulation recommendations.

La Crosse Elementary School gets state award
La Crosse Elementary School is one of 447 schools and two school divisions named as recipients of 2012 Virginia Index of Performance (VIP) awards for advanced learning and achievement. Governor Bob McDonnell and the Board of Education made the announcement Thursday. The incentive program recognizes schools and divisions that far exceed minimum state and federal accountability standards and achieve excellence goals established by the governor and the board. Amazon.com to open facility in Dinwiddie
From Staff Reports Governor Bob McDonnell and Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) Thursday announced the company's plans to open two fulfillment centers in Virginia, investing a total of $135 million. The company will invest $85 million and create more than 1,000 jobs in Chesterfield County, and invest $50 million in Dinwiddie County, creating more than 350 jobs.
