4-year-old girl left on Newport News school bus

Newport News school officials plan to investigate an incident in which a 4-year-old girl was left on a bus for about two hours.
Schools spokeswoman Michelle Price tells The Daily Press that the driver and a bus assistant have been suspended pending the investigation of the Feb. 3 incident.

Ex-lovers of both George Huguely and Yeardley Love took the stand in Charlottesville Circuit Court Thursday. They testified not only to the details of their own relationships, but also gave insight to the volatile nature of Huguely and Love’s tumultuous history.
Michael Burns, a 2011 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, said he met Love at the Preakness Stakes horse races in Maryland in the summer of 2008. Both played lacrosse for their respective schools, and had a number of friends in common, Burns said.

A 68-year-old Roanoke man is in the hospital after being hit by a car Saturday on Electric Road in front of Tanglewood Mall, police say.About 11:40a.m., witnesses saw a man standing at the concrete median near Wendy's, waiting to cross the southbound lanes of traffic.
