Workers are transforming 76,500 square feet of space in Danville Plaza into a premier indoor kart racing facility. The new sign at 2855 Riverside Drive gives passers-by a preview of what’s to come: “Dan River Grand Prix Indoor Karting Center.” Owners Ken and Stacey Grammer anticipate opening the entertainment destination in October. Ken Grammer said the indoor karting facility builds on Danville’s motorsports history and adds to the region’s racing entertainment. “It just seems like such a nice fit for what is a very positive part of the Danville experience,” Ken Grammer said

American National Bankshares Inc. announced Tuesday an increase of second quarter net income from $1.7 million last year to $2 million this year. “Our second quarter 2010 earnings represent a good quarter for American National, even though the earnings improvement was driven primarily by the industry wide FDIC special assessment levied in the second quarter of 2009,” said President and CEO Charles H. Majors via news release
