OUR VIEW: Concussion discussion
While the state Senate is looking to fill a $4 billion budget hole, it’s also working to prevent concussions among student athletes. Sen. Ralph Northam, a Democrat from Norfolk, sponsored a bill that would require school systems to develop policies on handling concussions, according to a Capital News Service story. The article says the bill prohibits any student suspected of having a concussion from returning to practice or play until written clearance is given by a doctor.
