Melanie Warner added 15 points for the Pirates (18-4, 10-1). The Spartans (9-14, 4-8) were led by Tyisha Bridges, who finished with 11 points.

VIRGINIA BEACH Ali Brown made a layup as time expired Saturday, lifting Virginia Wesleyan to a 73-71 win over Hampden-Sydney. The Marlins took possession with 34 seconds left after the Tigers' Harrison George tied the game on a jumper. Tre' Ford found Brown near the rim for the winning basket. Ford recorded six assists, a game-high four steals, nine rebounds and 11 points.
