The ACC on Friday unveiled future scheduling formats and divisions that will make Pittsburgh an annual football opponent of Virginia and Virginia Tech and continue the twice-a-season basketball rivalry between the Cavaliers and Hokies.
BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech men’s basketball coach Seth Greenberg is waiting for this year’s team to develop the toughness the Hokies have been known for during his nine-year tenure.
Tech certainly didn’t show it Thursday night in a 75-60 loss to No. 7 Duke at Cassell Coliseum.

His voice hoarse after another disappointing night, Virginia Tech coach Seth Greenberg seemed to take the Hokies' 75-60 loss to No. 7 Duke more personally than he's taken others.
Instead of keeping it close and losing in the end, the Hokies fell behind by double digits during a late first-half spurt by the Blue Devils and never made it close again.
When Lynchburg defensive lineman Korren Kirven picked national champion Alabama over Virginia Tech early on national signing day, it caused a brief panic among the Hokies faithful, pushing the message boards to the brink of a meltdown.
Oscar Smith tailback J.C. Coleman committed to Virginia Tech at the Hokies’ spring game in April. Since, he’s served as an invaluable salesman, pitching Tech’s program to several undecided prospects in the state.

Zach Neibert recorded a pin in less than four minutes at 141 pounds to lead No. 23 Virginia Tech to a 22-12 victory over No. 25 Old Dominion in a wrestling meet Sunday.
Neibert, ranked 19th in the country, earned the fall in 3:46 over ODU's Taylor Moeder to give the Hokies a 10-0 lead.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The Virginia Tech men’s basketball team ended a dreadful January with a 73-69 loss to Maryland at the Comcast Center on Saturday.
The Hokies (12-9, 1-5 ACC) finished the month 1-6 and are now tied for last place in the ACC with Georgia Tech, which could claim sole possession of the cellar again tonight with a loss at North Carolina.
Virginia Tech’s 70-68 loss to Brigham Young on Wednesday exposed a consistent shortcoming in Seth Greenberg’s program and the primary reason his Hokies have earned only one NCAA tournament bid:
Virginia Tech men’s basketball coach Seth Greenberg could see the frustration in Dorenzo Hudson’s eyes. Hudson, a 6-foot-5 senior guard who won third-team All-ACC honors two years ago, was struggling, and so was his team.
So before the Hokies took on No. 7 North Carolina last Thursday, Greenberg suggested Hudson take a different role with the team. He proposed bringing Hudson off the bench. There would be less pressure, and the game could come to him.
