Shockoe baseball stadium plan wins initial backing 6-3
The Richmond City Council chose Monday to press ahead with the plan for a baseball stadium in Shockoe Bottom, but the 6-3 vote leaves little room for error as Mayor Dwight C. Jones sets out to finalize the project’s details.
Monday’s vote, which occurred around 11 p.m. after a marathon session, was not the final decision, but it was the first major test for the development plan unveiled by the mayor late last year.

NORFOLK Police are asking for help to find a 43-year-old woman who has been missing since Wednesday. Rosa A. Powell of Trice Terrace in Norfolk was last seen around 9 a.m., wearing a burgundy Virginia Tech sweatshirt, dark blue jeans and white tennis shoes. She does not suffer from any known disabilities, according to a Norfolk police news release.
