The Richmond City Council chose Monday to press ahead with the plan for a baseball stadium in Shockoe Bottom, but the 6-3 vote leaves little room for error as Mayor Dwight C. Jones sets out to finalize the project’s details.
Monday’s vote, which occurred around 11 p.m. after a marathon session, was not the final decision, but it was the first major test for the development plan unveiled by the mayor late last year.

NORFOLK An 8-year-old boy, a 5-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl were home alone Tuesday when two burglars forced their way inside, Norfolk police said. The children were sent into a back room, and the two male intruders stole items before fleeing.
