State Fair, sold at auction, to be held this fall

The State Fair of Virginia, which has seen as many legal twists and turns as a tilt-a-whirl in the past several months, will go on after all this fall. At an auction Tuesday, Universal Fairs LLC, a Tennessee-based fair and festival operator, bought the assets of the now-defunct nonprofit that had put on the annual State Fair. The company plans to hold the fair at The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County beginning Sept. 28.

Ghostprint Gallery will soon close "Perros Indalo" by New York artist Juan Perdiguero, the first exhibitor at the gallery when it opened in 2007. "Perros Indalo," translated "Indalo dogs" in Spanish, refers to the stray and watchdogs the artist once observed in Almeria, Spain. The Indalo is a ghost in a legend of the region.
