Kindergarten registration slated

BATH COUNTY — The Bath County Public Schools will hold group counseling and registration sessions on Friday, March 2 for students who will enter kindergarten for the 2012-13 school year.

A morning session is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Valley Elementary School, and an afternoon session is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Millboro Elementary School.

MONTEREY — Darren and Sandy Massey proudly announce the engagement of their daughter, Candace Massey, to Tyler Lightner, son of Herb and Teresa Lightner.

Massey is a 2008 graduate of Highland High School and attended Staunton School of Cosmetology in 2009. She is employed at Fantastic Sams in Harrisonburg.

CLIFTON FORGE — The Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Educational Foundation announces the availability of the Virginia Firefighters Foundation Scholarship. The scholarship was established in 2001 by the Virginia Firefighters Foundation to provide tuition assistance to Virginia firefighters or their dependents who wish to study at DSLCC.

MILL CREEK W.Va. — The Highland girls basketball lost 66-20 at Tygarts Valley Saturday.

The Bulldogs took control early and never looked back. Tygarts scored 22 points in the opening quarter while holding the Rams to three. By halftime, the Bulldogs had opened up a 22-point lead, 34–12.
